LinkedIn Posting Tips for Business Owners: The 4-Step Blueprint

How to Build a Simple LinkedIn Posting Strategy for Your Small Business

As a business owner, you don’t have hours to spend decoding social media algorithms or keeping up with every minor tech update. I know I don’t. I wanted a straightforward path to show my expertise, connect with prospects, and get back to running my business. To do this, I sought out a LinkedIn Strategy for Business Owners from the posts of the best LinkedIn authority in the business.

Recent data analyzing over one million LinkedIn posts from the Algorithm Report 2026 by industry expert Richard van der Blom (available at richardvanderblom.com) reveals exactly what works right now. It completely simplifies how you post. Now Richard is held to the highest standards and gets very technical because he needs to be that guy for his audience. But every business owner can use this information, so I have simplified the language as smoothed out the techy jargon for everyone to understand. Here is a highly effective, four-phase blueprint tailored for the busy entrepreneur.

1. Write Like a Human (and Ditch the Hashtags)

The goal of your post is to stop someone from scrolling. You do not need to write an academic paper; you just need to share a real insight or a lesson learned from running your business.

  • Start with the unexpected: Posts that begin with a counterintuitive statement or tackle a common frustration perform 35% better than purely positive ones.
  • Keep it concise: Aim for a few strong paragraphs. You don’t need a massive essay, just enough space to deliver one clear takeaway. Will it produce an a-ha moment?
  • Stop using hashtags: The platform no longer uses them to distribute content. According to Richard, zero-hashtag posts are now outperforming tagged ones, saving you some time and effort.

2. Post Smarter, Not More Often

You do not need to be on LinkedIn every single day to see real business results. Consistency matters far more than volume.

  • Quality over frequency: Posting just 2 to 4 times a week is the absolute sweet spot. Posting multiple times a day actually hurts your reach, as your own posts compete against each other. Start with two posts per week, and build from there.

  • Put links in the main text: If you are sharing a link to your website, an article, or a booking page, place it directly inside the post. The old workaround of putting links in the comments is no longer effective.

  • Try Sunday storytelling: If you like sharing personal business lessons, Sunday has quietly become the highest-performing day for storytelling. Didn’t expect that one, did you? LinkedIn is always evolving.

Pro Tip: Never tag more than three people in a post unless they are absolutely central to the story, and you believe they will respond immediately. Tagging people who ignore the post will signal the platform that your content might be spam.

3. The “Golden 30 Minutes” of Nurturing

Hitting “Publish” is only half the battle. The first few hours after your post goes live are crucial for expanding its reach.

  • Stick around to reply: Replying to comments within the first 30 minutes can more than double your views.

  • Make replies meaningful: Avoid generic “Thanks!” replies. Answer with a follow-up question or an extra thought to keep the conversation going. The system rewards genuine back-and-forth dialogue.

4. Treat Winning Posts as Business Assets

When a post does exceptionally well, don’t just leave it in the archives. Think of it as a repeatable asset for your business marketing strategy. Promote it on other social media platforms, turn it into a blog post or use it for live presentations, webinars and podcasts.

  • Track the winners: Look back at your content after a week. If a post received high engagement or generated messages, it’s a proven winner.

  • Reuse the core message: Wait about 60 to 90 days, then share that same message again. You can change the format: turn a text post into a brief list or share it from a slightly different angle to get a whole new wave of value from work you’ve already done.
