Seven Reasons Why You Should Hire a Copywriter
1. Blog Management. You may have started a blog on your site because you want to keep your readers up to date on the latest news from your company. You may also know that a frequently updated blog has the potential to power your site to the top of most search engine rankings. The IT research firm Gartner estimates there are more than 200 million inactive blogs twisting in the Internet wind. Is yours one of them? I can research content, write entries, and, in most cases, upload them to your blog. The purpose of a corporate blog is to attract readers to your business. Done properly, it can make you a lot of money.
2. Direct Mail Marketing. There’s only so much room for text on a 4” x 6” postcard. Your message must be compelling, pinpoint-accurate and written with the kind of brevity that would impress Hemingway. My background in the printing business along with my years of training in sales are just two of the reasons you should contact me before you create your next mailing piece. Remember: good design will catch a prospective client’s eye, but it’s the message that will make you money.
3. Web Copy. Writing for the Internet is different from typical business writing. Along with sending a message to anyone who clicks on your site, the words and the way they are arranged must be chosen carefully to maximize your site’s presence on search engines like Google and Yahoo. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) copywriting requires more than just good writing. There is research involved in understanding your target market as well as your competition. I can help you write smart Web copy that will attract more visitors to your site. More Internet traffic means more money for your company.
4. Sales Letters. After more than a dozen years working and training in sales, I’ve mastered the art of the sales letter. The most effective ones always target a specific audience. Just because you’ve struck gold once doesn’t mean you can keep sending the same letter to any industry or target market. My sales letters always elicit a response because they speak to the reader on his or her terms in a conversational yet professional tone that will get results and raise your profits.
5. Newsletters. Who needs a newsletter? We all do. Blogs and social media sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter offer tidbits of information that entertain and inform. A well-crafted newsletter contains complete articles that may be too long for a blog post or too important to risk getting lost among numerous “tweets” and status updates. Best of all, newsletters come directly to your target market by way of mailbox or inbox. My printing background has given me the experience of creating attractive hard copy newsletters while my copywriting background has enabled me to learn how to write, upload and send a compelling, well-designed e-newsletter. I am proficient in several e-mail marketing platforms including Constant Contact, Vertical Response, Mad Mimi and Letterpop, among others.
6. Brochures. Attending a trade show? Planning a speaking engagement? Adding a new product or service? Hiring an account executive? These are just a few of the reasons why you need a brochure. Your company’s salespeople need a sharply-written, informative brochure to hand to a prospective client at the close of a meeting.
7. Grant Writing. A good business writer never stops learning. Recently, I successfully completed a course in grant writing. I learned that this skill requires far more than simply writing proposals for funding. There’s plenty of research involved, along with understanding budgets, limiting the scope of the project to fit within time frames, keeping up with the most recent notices of available grant funds, submitting requests under tight deadlines and following up after the request for proposal has been submitted. Your nonprofit deserves every opportunity for funding. That’s why you need someone with both a talent for writing and the ability to beat your competition in securing the funds for your business.
