My Support Team

April 6, 2010

I may call myself a copywriter for the sake of brevity, but any successful person in my field does far more than simply write copy.

My experience in the world of commercial printing gave me a working knowledge of graphic design. Years of sitting in on meetings with marketing professionals gave me an understanding of how to implement a successful marketing plan. Members of my writer’s group have certain specialties and experience that make them experts in their field.

So what separates a good copywriter from a great one? I think a qualified copywriter must understand marketing and design, but also should know when it’s time to bring in a full-time professional. Same goes for writing. Sometimes it’s better to refer a client to a niche specialist when the subject matter is outside the comfort level of the copywriter in question. Believe me, your clients will appreciate it.

Even though I can work in graphic design programs like QuarkXpress and InDesign, I’m not an artist. A good graphic designer should have a background in art. And while I can comfortably talk about marketing with most clients, I am not full-time marketing specialist.

That is why I have surrounded myself with specialists in all areas of marketing and production. Today’s blog is a tip of the cap to my support system. If you’d like more information, visit their Web sites or contact me directly.
